Management
Joe Robinson, President and CEO
Joe serves as President & CEO bringing to the role a wealth of experience as he directs a highly skilled management team to help navigate the ongoing growth of the company. Joe is a seasoned veteran in the world of digital media content, social networks, media technology and luxury brands, including successfully leading and growing several online media companies, from inception to sale.
Prior to joining ASMALLWORLD, Joe founded Signalray Media, an online media sales and consulting group, of which he is currently a board member. He was an investor and senior executive of Scout Inc, which, along with Myspace.com, was acquired by the Fox Network as part of its push into online social networking. The group also has holdings in In2Apps and Spongecell, prominent Web 2.0 media technology companies. In 1999, Joe founded IWIN.com, a leading online gaming entity with over four million registered users and two million monthly visitors. He also serves on the company’s board and is a close and active financial advisor. In 1998, Joe co-founded UGO networks, a men’s lifestyle site that was recently acquired by Hearst Interactive Media.
Joe has a degree in business administration from Skidmore College, in Saratoga New York.
Patrick Liotard-Vogt, Chairman
Based in Zurich, Switzerland, Patrick is an established online entrepreneur, who was one of the early investors and entrepreneurs in the European start-up scene. He has bought and sold several Swiss and German online social networks and acts as CEO and Partner at The World’s Finest Clubs (www.finestclubs.com) and Chairman of Poken SA (www.doyoupoken.com).
In October 2009, Patrick became a majority shareholder in ASMALLWORLD and the company’s Chairman. He will work closely with the management team at ASW to enhance member experience, introduce new services and continue to make ASMALLWORLD the definitive travel-lifestyle online community for internationally-minded people.
Patrick graduated from the PHW University of Business and Economics with a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance and obtained a diploma in Trade & Commerce from the Akad Profession Business School in Zurich.
Erik Wachtmeister, Founder
Inspired by the goal to create a unique private destination where people could confidently connect and exchange information, Erik founded ASMALLWORLD in 2004.
He has enjoyed a successful 25 year career in investment banking, specializing in corporate finance, cross-border M&A and funding Internet startups. His international career track has included senior positions with Ladenburg, Thalmann in New York and Los Angeles, Rothschild in New York, and Lehman Brothers in London and New York.
In 1993, Erik established his own business handling private placements for public companies. He followed this endeavor in 2000 with the creation of Viking Internet, an investment company that he later took public on the London Stock Exchange.
Currently a resident of London, Erik maintains an active lifestyle in-step with his busy career, with a passion for skiing, adventure travel/eco-tourism, photography and water sports.
He received his MBA from INSEAD in 1983, and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1977.
